The CAMHS Nursing Academy is a training and development program which is based on the four pillars of advanced nursing practice:
- Clinical Practice
- Facilitation of Learning
- Evidence, Research and Development
We have also added a fifth pillar, Wellbeing. This is to recognise the importance of self-care, both for our nurses, and for the provision of outstanding quality care.
Nurses within CAMHS have access to the Nursing Academy intranet site where there is extensive information pertinent to each pillar of advanced nursing practice.
The academy provides a space both online and in person for all CAMHS nurses to explore and maximise their individual developmental pathway, whilst recognising the current skills, practice and the importance of sharing this knowledge across the directorate.
In Clinical Practice you will find advice and guidance about the process of becoming a nurse, as well as information about the clinical skills you will develop along your journey.
Facilitation of learning
In Facilitation of Learning you will find training and development tools to support you in your practice.
In Leadership you will find all sorts of useful information about developing your skills as a leader or mentor to colleagues within your service. We also offer a buddying and mentoring scheme.
Evidence, Research and Development
In Evidence, Research and Development you will find information about how as a nurse you can be involved in research. As well introduction to engaging with the evidence, including recommended journals and advice on critical appraisal.
In the Wellbeing section we focus on sharing ideas around self-care and the resources available to you at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust to help you look after your wellbeing.
