Diagnosis and Treatment Decisions for Children and Young People
Overview
We are inviting qualified mental health professionals who work with children and young people in the UK to take part in a short research study.
The study aims to understand how clinicians make diagnostic and treatment decisions when given brief clinical information. By looking at decision-making across different professional backgrounds, this research hopes to improve understanding of how assessments and treatment planning are approached in practice.
To ensure the study results are reliable, some details about the purpose of the study cannot be fully explained before you take part. Full information will be provided after participation.
What will taking part involve?
- Reading two short clinical vignettes about a child.
- Answering three questions after each vignette about:
- Possible diagnoses
- Treatment options you would consider
- Factors that influenced your decisions
The study takes 10-15 minutes to complete.
Participation is online and entirely voluntary. You are free to withdraw from the study at any time up until 14 March 2027. After this date, your data will be anonymised, and it will no longer be possible to withdraw it.
