First team to move into New Douglas Bennett House this month
The first team will move into New Douglas Bennett House (NDBH) at the end of the month.
The Eating Disorders Unit will move from Bethlem Royal Hospital into their new home on the fourth floor of the new purpose built facility on Wednesday 27 May.
They will be the first to move in with colleagues from Lambeth Hospital starting a programme of scheduled moves in August. Work will be continuing to get the rest of NDBH ready to welcome patients and staff.

Ade Odunlade, the Trust’s Interim Chief Executive, said: “I am very excited that we are taking this important first step and bringing the first group of service users into what is a great space for providing care.
“There’s still work to do and I know colleagues are working on plans for the wider programme to transfer services from Lambeth Hospital and to make the transition as smooth as possible for patients and service users who have been waiting patiently for this exciting new chapter.”
The new £60m purpose-built facility will feature wards designed for service users needs with ensuite bathrooms and a more therapeutic environment with access to a range of therapy and treatment rooms, outdoor balcony courtyards, quiet rooms, family rooms and multifaith spaces.
Plans for the moves, induction visits for staff and other preparations are all being refreshed following the delays from 2025.
Paddy Quinn, interim Service Director for Psychological Medicine and Older Adults, said: “It will be great to be in a modern space designed to support our service users in their care and the colleagues who will be providing it.”
The news comes as the first teams started moving into the Pears Maudsley Centre for Children and Young People. Read more.
