What’s different?

Our Centre has some special features that make our services different and better. We were guided by our Core Principles and worked closely with lots of people, including those who use our services, their families and carers, doctors, other care professionals and community and volunteer groups. Everyone’s ideas helped us shape the Centre into what it is today.

Open longer

The Lewisham 24/7 Mental Health Centre is now open seven days a week.

Open hours:

Monday to Friday: 8 .00 am to 8 .00 pm

Saturday & Sunday:  9 .00 am to 5 .00 pm

24/7 care and crisis support

For those in crisis, we can offer round the clock care, with beds available at Mountsfield Recovery House in Hither Green . Support is available without the need for a referral from a GP.

If you, or someone you care for needs crisis support please find further guidance here.

Daily Crisis Support

Crisis care `slots’ are available daily to ensure care is available when needed. This is helping to reduce A&E visits and admissions to hospital.

Joined-up care

At the Centre, health and care professionals are located together and work alongside local charities and voluntary partners, to deliver support that values and respects people.

Working better together with you

  • The Community Mental Health team has moved to work with members of the Primary Mental Health Team. Working closer together physically means staff have better communication with each other about the needs of their patients and care is more joined up.
  • Home Treatment Teams and voluntary and community partners are working with other care professionals to make access to crisis care quicker and easier.
  • Our newly expanded care team includes a variety of professionals such as doctors, psychologists, care staff, voluntary and community partners and peer-support workers who have personal experience of mental health issues – ALL working together with service users and carers to manage and review their treatment and support.

Trusted relationships

Our mental health care is designed together with service users and carers, by staff who are committed to building trusted relationships and supporting people to do what matters to them as individuals

Person-centred care

  • Introduction of Assertive Outreach – a proactive care service to ensure all those in need are getting access to the right support for their needs.
  • Expanded and enhanced care team now able to offer more appointments either on site, in the community or at home depending on people’s needs and preferences.
  • Use of the DIALOG questionnaire to encourage service users and carers to feedback to us about their support and help ensure care plans are produced with them and informed by their wishes and needs.

Ongoing support

Mental health can be a lifelong journey, so we have been grateful for the inspiration and support of the staff and volunteers at Mosaic Clubhouse in Lambeth, in helping us develop our Membership offer for service users and carers. Our aim is that people will have a sense of belonging and ownership of our centre, and in turn this will help to build their confidence, self-esteem and life-skills. Read more about this work here.

Co-producing a Day Programme

Working with services users and carers and community partners, we have co-produced a varied Day Programme of activities and support for health, wellbeing and including practical advice on housing, debt and welfare. Read more about this work here:
