Gavin Hoole

Gavin is a white autistic British man with lived experience of using the London Ambulance Service. He holds a B.Eng, PGCE, MA SEND (Merit), MIET, and IOSH, and is currently completing an MSc in Psychology at London South Bank University, where he also serves as MSc Course Representative. Gavin has contributed written evidence to the House of Lords Special Inquiry Committee on the Autism Act 2009 and works professionally as a neurodiversity and SEND education consultant.

Gavin is an approved Autistic Co-Trainer on Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training at the Estia Centre, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, and brings both lived experience and practitioner expertise in his work across health, education, and social care contexts.

Gavin is sensitive to flashing lights, sounding fire alarms or sirens, squeaky noises, and loud or busy environments. He finds comfort in the sounds of birds, flowing water, and classical music, which helps him regulate his emotions and maintain a sense of calm. He appreciates being asked before being touched and prefers deep-pressure hugs. Gavin is also sensitive to crowded environments due to his claustrophobia.
