  • To introduce learners to the systemic challenges faced by people with a learning disability in accessing equitable healthcare and social care, and to explore integrated approaches that promote person-centred, inclusive support.

Learning outcomes

  • Define what is meant by a learning disability and recognise how this definition applies in practice when supporting an individual with a learning disability. 

  • Identify systemic barriers and health inequalities in healthcare and social care. 

  • Explain the importance of reasonable adjustments and person-centred care.

  • Explore collaborative strategies between healthcare and social care sectors.

  • Identify and implement ways to work better with others to improve care and support.
